Introduction to the NSSA Recreational Soccer Program

NSSA offers recreational soccer programs for boys and girls in grades 1 through 12 (ages U7 to U18) during the summer soccer season. Teams are formed in March following the registration period that opens in January and ends in late February (to be ensured placement on a team). We group ages together by grades to form separate leagues for boys and girls as follows: Grades 1 & 2 (U7/U8), Grades 3 & 4 (U9/U10), Grades 5 & 6 (U11/U12),  Grades 7 & 8 (U13/U14),  and Grades 9 thru 12 (U15-U18) leagues.

Practices generally begin in late April or early May, and games begin in mid-May. This year, NSSA has also reorganizing our youngest age group to provide a age group wide, fun learning experience.  Details of this program will be posted here in the next few weeks. The season generally ends in the last two weeks of July, and includes 8 to 10 league games and playoffs. No tryouts are required to join any NSSA recreational soccer team. All levels of experience are welcome to NSSA Recreational Soccer!

2014 Recreational U7/U8 ADP Program
Introducing an enhanced soccer experience for all new NSSA young players.

Introducing the 2014 U7/8 ADP

“Advanced Development Program”

NSSA’s U7-U8 Advanced Development Program offers ALL its young players entering our progam the opportunity to be exposed to a soccer environment that will enhance their skills and approach to the game. The objective of NSSA’s ADP training is to provide our young players with an environment that promotes learning, creative thinking, problem solving, skill development and love for the game in an age appropriate soccer atmosphere.  The players will have a 3:1 ratio of engaging training to games, allowing for more touches on the ball and individual development.

The 3 main components of our age appropriate curriculum are:

1. Technical

2. Agility, balance and coordination

3. Soccer-based decision making – using games to teach format

Small-Sided Games

Coach-directed, small-sided games, under differing conditions, promote the qualities that NSSA is seeking in their youth players by allowing for more touches on the ball, more creativity with the ball, and more individual problem solving within the game environment.

Each training night, ALL players will meet as a group for training instead of dividing as individual teams.  Training is administered and conducted in a pool format by NSSA’s professional, licensed coaching staff.  Pools are flexible, allowing players to train in environments that promote their own individual development needs.

Weekly training days are Monday & Wednesdays for boys & Girls

Training will be held at Roseville Area Middle School

Game Night

Every other Wednesday each team will have game night.  On this night you will play with your same team in one 50-minute game (two 25 minute halves).

Volunteer parent coaches will have the opportunity to observe and involve themselves during training nights, and will be responsible for leading their team on game nights.

Registration fee: $150 per player (Includes: NSSA Jersey)
